What do you know about HIV?

Within the framework of the World AIDS Day, the staff of the Department of Immunology and Allergology R.T. Kozhanova and B.S. Koshkarbaeva together with 3-year students of “General medicine”specialty of 3-016, 3-040, 3-044 groups conducted an open lesson on HIV prevention.

The aim of the lesson was the formation of adequate attitude to the issue, determination of the degree of risk of HIV infection in different situations. The students Zarubaev Ruslan, Dauletbekov Daniyar, Kyrykpaeva Ayana (3-016 group) and Aueskali Akbota, Mukupov Doszhan (3-040 group) provided information about HIV transmission, safety measures for prevention of HIV infection, pathogenesis, clinical manifestations, diagnosis of HIV / AIDS. On the example of the case studies were discussed the issues on the algorithm of actions in creation of the emergency situation with the risk of HIV infection. All participants were given the informational-educational materials on HIV prevention.

The students actively participated in the discussion of this issue; the high activity and great interest of the students indicate the necessity of further discussion of these issues, essential for young people. For consolidation of the obtained information, the students were suggested writing an essay on the topic “What do you know about HIV?”.

The invited head doctor of the Dental Clinic A.S. Kalina responded to the questions on HIV infection in dentistry.
