Old Age Deserves Respect
On 1 October on International Day of Older
Persons, by old tradition the employees of Department of Elementary
Psychology and Communication Skills together with the ,students of 1 and 3 yearof training on discipline “Basics of psychological knowledge and
communication skills”, “Basics of clinical psychology” decided to congratulate
the patients of their clinical site, the branch of City Hospital No. 1. Most of
the patients of therapeutics department of the Hospital are elderly people, and
patients of nursing care department.
In the ward for elderly people, the teachers and students congratulated them on the holiday and gave thanks for their work for the benefit of the State and their own families, for their life experience and wisdom transferred to younger generation. As a small surprise, to the aksakals (old men) were presented positive fruits tangerines, about which the elderly people were very pleased. Students with great interest talked to elderly people showing qualities necessary for their future profession such askindness and empathy, and showing respect for family and cultural values.
All students of 1-027 and 3-033 groups of specialty “General Medicine” with great responsibility and creativity approached to the arrangement of this humane action: they prepared musical performance, skits on issues of humane treatment of people, sang in chorus for elderly people and with them. One of the elderly patients with tears in her eyes gave thanks to students for showing mercy and asked to express her gratitude to their parents for good upbringing.
Department of Elementary Psychology and Communication Skills wrote a memo to the Dean of Faculty of General Medicine and Dentistry K.K. Toleubekov with request to reward the students participated in this noble action with gratitude, and write letters of thanks to their parents.
