On 5 October, IV Regional Tournament in “Асық ату” and “Арқан тартыс” was held at Sports Centre named after Serik Sapiev.

     The main aim of the tournament was the promotion of national sports, traditions and games. Kazakh national sports since ancient times bear clear moral values, developing in the youth a sense of patriotism, training willpower, tempering character, focusing completely on healthy lifestyle.

      Karaganda State Medical University was represented by the participants of “Асық ату” section (Coach F.A. Batirov) and “Athletic gymnastics” (Coach E.A. Kim): Mamedov Vusal (6-013 OM) Zhakupov Salimzhan (4-067 OM), Tashenov Mazhit (4-070 OM), Kaparov Darkhan (4-071 OM), Kosyanov Sergei (6-011 OM), Zhunaitov Adlet (2-042 OM), Kuvatbaev Erkebulan (3-043 OM), Kali Bagdat (3-020 OM) and Aitbaev Bakbergen (3-022 OM).

Despite the fact that there were many participants, namely 13 teams representing all districts of the region, our team masterfully took the I place in team rating: “Асық ату” team of KSMU shared bronze medals with the team of Karkaralinsk region, and “Арқан тартыс” team did not leave opponents a chance and became the absolute winner of the tournament.

       The revival of national sports enables young generation to adopt the traditions and culture of their ancestors, to understand the origins of philosophy and mentality of the people. 

       At present, Kazakhstan enjoys a boom of national sports and Sports Club of KSMU is pleased with the fact that our students are not satisfied with the role of just spectators, but also successfully participate in competitions.
