On the 23^rd of September, the Republican Interuniversity Multilingual Olympiad was held by the foreign languages department of KSMU in the building of Karaganda State Medical University for the purpose of implementation of the Work Flow Chart devoted to the development of trilingual education in KSMU in 2015-2020.  

The 1^st and 2^nd –year- students of non-linguistic faculties of 13 Universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan (3 participants from the university, who are proficient in three languages: Kazakh, Russian, English) took part in the Olympiad.  

The Multilingual Olympiad consisted of three rounds:

The 1^st round was held in the test form, including tasks in three languages. Test items on the country study of the Republic of Kazakhstan and English-speaking countries were developed according to Professor Avanessov’s method.

The 2^nd round was the assessment of listening skills and interpretation of foreign speech in the state language. The participants of the Olympiad had to give a written reply in the state language to the questions written in Russian after watching the video in English.

The 3^rd round was team captains’ competition. The task of team captains was connected with the translation of sentences into Kazakh, Russian and English. During the captains competition team members were doing the task in written form - they had to find equivalents of proverbs in the three languages.

The 4^th round was impromptu speech on the proposed theme. The team participants competed in the ability to express their views in English on a specific topic within a minute.
