Interdisciplinary conference on the Emergency Medical Service.

In the practical skills Center of KSMU was held an interdisciplinary conference entitled “Emergency assistance to the pregnant women with influenza complicated by infectious-toxic shock”. The 5th year students of 5-061, 5-062, 5-080, 5-083 groups of “General Medicine” are participated at this conference.

In conducting classes were involved teaching staff of three departments: Department of Emergency Medical Service №2, Department of the General medical practice №2, and department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of KSMU.

The aim was to teach students to give First aid in infectious-toxic shock, features of emergency service to pregnant women with extragenital pathology (influenza complicated by infectious-toxic shock), a differentiated approach to the diagnosis and emergency treatment.

The clinical case was proposed to the students for the critique: emergency care to the pregnant women with extragenital pathology involving the standardized patients.

Lesson was held in three stages:

1.  Reception at an obstetrician-gynecologist in the family outpatient’s clinic ( communication skills, visiting gynecologist with ultrasound diagnostics, defining of the pregnancy, filling in the documentation);

2.  Reception at a doctor of general practice in the family outpatient’s clinic (communication skills, visiting family doctor, medical examination, diagnostics, treatment, filling in the documentation, tactics of keeping the patient);

3.  Calling a brigade ambulance team(team work, communication skills, medical examination, emergency medical care, tactics of keeping the patient).

All students were divided into groups (gynecologists, general practitioners, ambulance team, observers, standardized patient) for holding the role model.

Debriefing took place after the end of class. Work with mistakes, which were made at the training the practical skills was carried during the debriefing. Students filled in the form of the feedback with suggestions and wishes.

Classes were conducted in TBL, method in benevolent atmosphere, with motivation the students in practical medical treatment work. Students were involved in discussing with enthusiasm. Interest was woken by expertly asked questions of faculty.

The necessity of interdisciplinary conferences was demonstrated by good mood, shine in the eyes of future doctors.
