April 15-18, the Kazakh National Medical University named after S.D. Asfendiyarov held traditional Republican debate tournament of medical universities of Kazakhstan, dedicated to the celebration of the 25th anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The tournament was aimed at the development of civil initiatives of students, the development of their discussion skills, the expansion of an outlook of young people, as well as developing the ability to argue and defend their civil position.

The debate tournament was attended by 32 student teams representing medical universities of Kazakhstan. Karaganda State Medical University was represented by the participants of the discussion club "Namys". Official formats of the tournament: American parliament (APF) and the Lincoln-Douglas (LD).

After three qualifying rounds the two best teams of the tournament went to the finals: Teams of Medical University of Semey and KSMU. Showing meaningful game and uncommon will for the victory, our students (GM Malikaydar Aizhan 3-043 and 6-001 Egentaeva Marjane GM) gained a convincing victory and became the winners of the IV Republican Debate Tournament of medical universities of RK.

In "Lincoln-Douglas" format, the speaker of the team KSMU Malikaydar Aizhan reached the final of personal superiority, where she met with an experienced fighter of tournament, the Speaker of the Medical University of Astana Saltanat Tursynhan. The captain of team KSMU Aizhan Malikaydar was recognized as the winner of personal superiority of the IV Republican Debate Tournament of medical universities of RK by unanimous decision.

Debate club "Namys" is grateful to the Rector of KSMU, professor R.S. Dosmagambetova, to Academie Dean V.B. Molotov-Luchansky and to the department for work with the youth for their help in preparing for the tournament.
