Smoking - myths, reality and consequences.

As part of the activities of educational work teachers Departments of Biochemistry, Surgical diseases №2 and pathological anatomy held a meeting with students of KSMU. The meeting was held in the form of a "Round Table" in the hostel number 1.

Preparation and organization of the event was led by head of department of Biochemistry Professor L.E. Muravleva and Professor of department of Surgical diseases №2 and pathological anatomy M.M. Tusupbekova. Teachers of the department provided an interactive material on the subject: "The objective search for the truth: Smoking - Myths and Reality" and "Effects of nicotine addiction among young people".

Nicotine addiction is the most common and legalized addiction in the world. The vast majority of teenagers and students believe that the use of nicotine is not dangerous, and nicotine addiction –is a myth. The main purpose of the conversation was the promotion of healthy lifestyles and the elimination of myths about the safety of nicotine consumption, as "a healthy lifestyle is the key to the health of the nation" - message from the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Leader of the Nation Nursultan Nazarbayev to people of Kazakhstan "Strategy" Kazakhstan-2050 ": new political course of established state".

Medical and social aspects of nicotine addiction, including the myth of the safety of electronic cigarettes were actively discussed. The influence of nicotine on the synthesis of hormones and neurotransmitters in the brain, the formation of the molecular basis of the nicotine dependence, causes and symptoms of withdrawal syndrome was examined. Logical number of somatic and systemic diseases related to nicotine addiction was defined.

Biochemical basis of pathological processes was given, options for pathological permits of nicotine addiction were presented. The myth of safety nicotine was destroyed, voluntary psycho-emotional and physical disability of smoker was proved.

Much attention was paid to the spread of nicotine addiction among young people, as well as on its influence on the reproductive health of young people. The participants actively discussed the causes of infertility and formation of carcinogenesis. The most effective way to combat nicotine addiction have been proposed - "... just do not start smoking!".

The evening was ended with an open question for students about the physical and social health of future generations.
