Interdisciplinary students’ conference «Kazakhstan is a multilingual state»
On the 4th of March Interdisciplinary
students’ conference
«Kazakhstan is a multilingual state» was carried out by the Kazakh, Russian
and Foreign languages departments in the reading room of dormitory № 4.
The conference was organized in the form of practical lesson with the elements of TBL (team based learning), the students 1-019 and 1-038 groups of the speciality "General Medicine" took place in it. The lesson includedseveral rounds. At the beginning of the lesson6 individual and group testing was carried out. Then the students, having watched the video in English about «Kazakh traditions and customs ", answered the questions in Russian and Kazakh. The students promoted their language abilities, responding the questionsorally . The high level of three languages knowledge in the students’ audience should be noted;it can be considered an example for the whole student youth studying in KSMU.
The round "Kim zhuyrik?" allowed the students to demonstrate the knowledge of proverbs and sayings in the Kazakh, Russian and English languages, it was necessary to complete the proverb and give itsequivalents in two languages. The students were not confused and coped with the task!
The intellectual quiz "Polyglot" included the tasks of varying complexity on categories: "Kazakhstan", "Traditions and customs", "National Games", "National food", "Famous people".
The round "Improvisation". interested not only students but also the guests. The teams had to dramatize and make the sound track for videos about rituals of the Kazakh people: «Nauryz», «Bessikke Salu», «Betashar», «Aytis». Students brilliantly coped with this task.
At the end of the lesson students left feedback, and also expressed their impressions in the form of funny emoticons.
At the end of the lesson, the jury summarized the results of the competition and unveiled the winners. The language knowledge of students , their activity and creativity work during the lesson were generally recognized. An additional point is that the high methodical level of conducted lesson was emphasized by the guests.
