Debate Tournament!

On October 17-18, the debate tournament for the Cup of the party "Nur Otan" was organized within the «Stopқылмыс» and «Жастар-Отанға!» projects by the regional branch of Nur Otan party together with the executive secretariat of the youth movement "Zhas Otan". Tournament subject: "Youth as a driving force in corruption opposition".

The main goal of the tournament was to instil in youth a sense of patriotism, civic consciousness and intolerance for violations and to support debate movement of the region.

Nearly 20 teams from almost all cities, districts and also universities and colleges of Karaganda region took part in tournament. APF (American Parliamentary Format) was chosen the official format as the most common among the debates participants in Kazakhstan. The official languages were the Kazakh and Russian languages. Elimination rounds were held in Karaganda Economic University of Kazakhstan Consumers’ Association. The semifinal games and the final were held in the building of NDPR "Nur Otan".

Karaganda State Medical University was represented by the debate club “Namys”(Kazakh league): Malikaydar Ayzhan and Izetov Nurlybek ("Азателдіңұрпақтары" fraction), Seydaly Erzat and Koishin Moldir ("Намыс kz" fraction), Duysenbek Akmaral and Myrzageldi Zeynur (Namys fraction), and also debate club «Инсайт» (the Russian league) with Kashayev Nariman and Sadvakasova Asel (Feniks fraction).

After controversies and stormy debates on the most topical issues of contemporary politics, where debaters discussed a new program on anti-corruption, the need for amending the law "On the Fight against Corruption", the need for public officials to take a lie detector test, the jury summed up the tournament.

The faction "Plan D" (KEU) took the 1^st place and was awarded the Cup of «НұрОтан» Party (Kazakh league). The fraction "Азателдіңұрпақтары" (KSMU) took the 2d place and the fraction "Намыс kz"(KSMU) took the 3d place.

The fraction "Closer to power" (KSU) took the 1^st place and was awarded the Cup of «НұрОтан» Party (Russian league). The fraction “Shake!” (KSTU) took the 2d place and the fraction "Feniks"(KSMU) took the 3d place.

The debate tournament winners were awarded the commemorative prizes and certificates from the hands of the chairman of the youth movement «ЖасОтан» and all the teams were awarded certificates for their active participation.
