Seminar in the format of “Kostanay-Karaganda”

26 January 2024

On January 24, an unconventional seminar-lecture was held in the regional Governor’s Office. The leading compliance officers of two regions of the country, Karaganda and Kostanay regions, were able to communicate and exchange experiences in the video conferencing format.

“The idea of sharing experiences with other regions of the country came to us at the end of last year. Throughout the year, the authorized bodies conduct training seminars and master classes, and provide remote methodological support. Along with us, our colleagues are doing similar work in other regions” – said Karina Kistaubaeva, a specialist of the Kostanay Regional Anti-Corruption Service“Thus, our compliance officers became interested in the work of the independent service of Karaganda Medical University. We decided to contact with our colleagues and organize a teleconference, expanding the range of issues discussed based on the specifics of the activities of the two regions”.

During the meeting, the participants discussed issues of optimizing present business processes, dealing with complaints, public procurement, implementing the international standards for combating bribery, and much more.

It is worth noting that participants in the pool of the "Anti-Corruption Volunteering" project, which was launched last year, acted as experts.

“Karaganda Medical University puts the work on anti-corruption and ensuring academic integrity “at the forefront”. The University, as a full member of Academic Integrity League, is constantly improving processes, introducing improved mechanisms for implementing transparent learning procedures for our students” –  Aleksandr Urmashov, Compliance Officer of NCJSC KMU, shared his experience during the seminar lecture – “I believe that the effective work of compliance officers on-site can strengthen control in accordance with the current international standards in corruption risk prevention and serve to create a comfortable environment for potential service recipients”.

Also, within the framework of the event, Zhuldyz Yeskenova,  Deputy General Director for Legal Affairs and Sale of LLP “Karagandy Su”, Daniyar Baizhanov,  Head of Compliance Service of LLP “Teplotransit Karaganda”,  Anara Idilbayeva, compliance officer of Kostanay LLP “KamLitKz”,  Talgat Kakimov, compliance officer of “Kostanay Heat Power Company”.

According to the organizers, it is expected that such meetings will become traditional and can contribute to the further professionalization of public and quasi-public sectors.
