On August 9, a special monitoring group continued to monitor the procedure for conducting entrance examinations for residency. The group included Chairman of the Karaganda regional branch of the youth wing “Jas Otan” of the party “Nur Otan” Yerzhan Khamitov, the compliance officer of the NCJSC KMU Alexander Urmashov, the consultant of the Karaganda regional branch of the youth wing “Jas Otan” of the party “Nur Otan” Mazhitov Arafat.

One of the main tasks of Jas Otan is to constantly monitor universities for anti-corruption activities and provide conditions for the formation of academic integrity in the educational environment. Director of the Center for Simulation and Educational Technologies Kemelova Gulshat acquainted independent observers with the high-tech equipment of the Center, exam procedures and the technology for providing feedback to students through anonymous questionnaires.

Entrance exams were conducted according to the “Objective Structured Clinical Exam” method at 5 emergency stations in medicine. This method maximally excludes the corruption component and minimizes the risks in the assessment of knowledge. “The applicant before the exam is registered, receiving a special identification number, and independent examiners, not knowing the data of the test taker, evaluate and set points using an electronic device according to the identification number of the applicant. Only at the end is the decryption of the data of those who have passed the exam made”, - said Gulshat Seitmuratovna.

According to the Rules for admission to study in educational programs of residency, admission is carried out based on the results of the entrance exam. The applicant must score at least 75 points out of a possible 100, and the grant is awarded only to those with the highest points. It should be noted that this year applicants who have completed their internship before 2019 are going through the procedure of entrance exams using this method, and the results of an independent examination are taken into account for graduates of 2020 and 2021.

This exam is one of the components of the final assessment of the applicant - GPA, scientific achievements for the last 3 calendar years and other achievements in scientific activity are also taken into account. Points can also be earned for professional experience and work in infectious diseases hospitals during the COVID-19 pandemic. The final assessment of all applicants is approved by a special examination committee, consisting of the heads and teachers of the departments of the university.

The observers noted a high level of organization of entrance examinations and objectivity in assessing the knowledge of applicants. Based on the results of the group's work, plans were outlined for further cooperation between the university and the youth wing of “Jas Otan” in the area of public control and improvement of anti-corruption practices.
