Corruption prevention in education
An online conference on corruption prevention
offenses in education was held on March 3. The conference was organized by the
Department of the Anti-Corruption Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan
(Anti-Corruption Service) in the Karaganda region and the “Bolashaq” Academy.
In welcoming speech, the head of the Department, Denis Shakenov, noted that today the universities of the Karaganda region on a systematic basis are building work to prevent corruption offenses and are actively introducing mechanisms to ensure academic integrity. The speaker emphasized that Karaganda Medical University has introduced an effective compliance system.
Kayyrzhan Akhmetbekovich acquainted the participants of the conference with the results of external monitoring of educational organizations of the Karaganda region, carried out by the project office “Sanaly urpaq”. The speaker drew special attention to bringing the activities of universities in the region in accordance with the requirements of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On Combating Corruption” and the Anti-Corruption Standard for ensuring openness and transparency in organizations of higher and (or) postgraduate education. K. Tokushev noted that the anti-corruption standard developed and implemented by the Karaganda Medical University meets the requirements and is concise, simple and understandable.
The conference will result in practical recommendations for improving the activities of educational organizations in the region.
