Second Forum of Compliance Officers of Kazakhstan
The International Online Forum for the
Development and Promotion of Compliance in Kazakhstan was held on October 29. The
event was organized by the Anti-Corruption Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan
in cooperation with KPMG, the Chamber of Legal Consultants “Kazakhstan BAR
Association” and the PF “Center for Legal Policy Research”. The forum was
attended by representatives of government agencies and national companies,
compliance officers and employees of compliance services, as well as experts
from Russia, the United States, Israel, Ukraine and Uzbekistan. The Karaganda
Medical University was presented by the compliance officer Alexander Urmashov.
Deputy of the Mazhilis of Parliament Gulnara Bizhanova noted the paramount importance of the formation of a “tone from above” by the leaders of organizations to ensure the effective work of compliance services. Ms. Bizhanova suggested considering expanding the competence of compliance officers to control regulatory risks and ensure independence from various management body of the organization.
KPMG highlighted the need to digitize compliance services.
International experts shared their experience in developing compliance services in their countries and strengthening the role of compliance in the anti-corruption system.
