Mediation in the Healthcare
The relevance of this topic, due to is the fact that
currently in the Republic of Kazakhstan and abroad every effort is to ensure that
the relationship between doctors and
patients have become more constructive. In the USA, where mediation has been
used for more than a decade, and appeals to the mediator occurs in 75-85% of
cases, conflicts, disputes in the field of medical services is no exception. In
the UK in the structure of London's Center for the effectiveness of the dispute
settlement a special unit - the Center
for Medical Mediation was allocated.
Despite the conducted reforms in Kazakhstan, high technologies in medicine, unfortunately, the number of complaints in healthcare is steadily growing and therefore, the role of mediation in modern medicine is unquestionable. In our country the law "On mediation" was adopted in 2011, but now we can confidently say that even though about mediation knowledge is not active,it is already used in the healthcare. In the current academic year teachers of the Department conducted classes on the "Mediation" subject with the students of the 5th year of the GM specialty. During classes, students show high interest in studying the discipline, most of them noted that they had changed their attitude to working with patients.
During the seminars the coach-mediator S. M. Kabieva spoke about the importance of mediation not only to resolve the incident of conflict between the health professional and patient, but also about preventing it. The listeners were familiarized with the history of the development of mediation, basic principles, technique of mediation. Participants of the seminar discussed issues on the causes of conflict in the relationship "doctor-patient" is considered by the mediation styles of solving problems, conducted analyses of clinical cases of medical practice, "the conflicting parties" changed roles with the mediator.
The participants expressed a high level of organization of the seminar, enthusiastically supported the initiative of S. M. Kabieva actively participate in the implementation of mediation in their health care organizations.
