“Internationalisation of Higher Education”Session in the frame of IV International Central Asian Scientific and Practical Conference “Internationalisation of Medical Education”

On the 2nd of October “Internationalisation of Higher Education” Session was held in the frame of  IV International Central Asian Scientific and Practical Conference “Internationalisation of Medical Education” which was conducted at KSMU on the 2nd and 3rd of October.

The moderators of the session were Hugo Bragioni (KSMU, Director of the strategic development and international cooperation department), George Karakiulakis (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Dean of the Medical School), and Saule Bolatovna Kassymova (KSMU, Head of the international cooperation department).

The following issues on Internationalisation were discussed during the discussion:

1.  Organisation of the external incoming and outgoing academic mobility of students and professors;

2.  Recruitment of foreign experts to work at the university;

3.  Coordination of team work of all structures on internationalisation, work in the frame of joint foreign projects;

4.  Organisation of international cooperation of the universities;

5.  Search of a new foreign partners, and etc.

The following speakers made reports:

-  George Karakiulakis(Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece), “New curricula in Medical schools”;

-  Vaiva Hendrikson (Vilnius University, Lithuania), “Challenges in Studies Internationalisation: Five Years of Experience at the Faculty of Medicine of Vilnius University”;

-  Yoshihiro Noso (Shimane University, Japan), “Achievement of International Exchange between SSMU and Shimane University until today”

-  Yekaterina Boiko (Bologna Process and Academic Mobility Center, Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan), “Some aspects of the internationalization of higher education in Kazakhstan: a brief overview of achievements”;

-  Daulet Meldekhanov(South Kazakhstan State Pharmaceutical Academy, Kazakhstan), “Organization of external incoming and outgoing academic mobility of SKSPhA's students”;

-  Aidos Akhmetov (Kazakhstan-Russian Medical University), “Academic mobility as a factor of competitiveness”;

-  Zhanara Ibrayeva (Semey State Medical University, Kazakhstan), “Scientific justification of the model of socio-cultural and medical support of foreign students at the Medical Universities in the Republic of Kazakhstan”.

Summing up the meeting, all the participants remarked unanimously that the process of internationalization is an inevitable process that is a consequence of the globalization of the world higher education. It is necessary to develop joint scientific and educational activities, improve coordination and exchange of experience for successful work in this direction.
