Rugby players of KSMU become vice-champions of “Cup of Ishim”

III Annual “Cup of Ishim” on Rugby took place in Astana on the ice of Ishim River. The tournament was organized by the British Embassy in Kazakhstan and dedicated to the celebration of the Day of Wales.

  Twelve teams representing different regions of Kazakhstan took part in the tournament. Karaganda region was represented by the players of the Rugby Club of KSMU.

  Rugby in Kazakhstan is called “foot kokpar”. The rules allow power fight, that is why rugby players are distinguished by good physical condition, strength, endurance and fighting spirit. In addition, rugby is a game of real gentlemen.

  Having shown an iron-strong will to victory and team spirit, the players of the Rugby Club of KSMU made it to the finals of the III Annual “Cup of Ishim”, but in persistent fight conceded to the owners of the tournament – the rugby players of Astana.

  After the final, Astana players noted that they were glad to have such a worthy opponent as the team of Karaganda.

  “Today we placed second, but we will try to turn the tide of tournament leaders in the national championship”, said the coach and captain of the Rugby Club of KSMU Zangar Yestayev.
