Intercultural exchange of knowledge and skills

In the globalization era, medical education is also globalizing and the number of scientists and teachers who work outside the Republic of Kazakhstan within the external academic mobility program is increasing. Teachers of KSMU participating in the program of academic mobility are the carriers of international consciousness at the University, they contribute to the movement into the international educational space, ensure the qualitative growth of human capital, develop the innovative educational environment, increase the attractiveness and competitiveness of the Kazakhstani medical education.

Within the framework of the external academic mobility program, from 20 February to 3 March 2017 in Bukhara State Medical Institute (Uzbekistan) was carried out educational activity by Svetlana Tuleutaeva, Head of Department of Pediatric and Surgical Dentistry of KSMU on the discipline “Pediatric dentistry” and by Gulshat Kemelova, Associate Professor of Department of Clinical Pharmacology and Evidence-Based Medicine of KSMU on the discipline “Basics of Evidence-based medicine”.

During two weeks, the teachers of KSMU provided lectures and practical sessions in accordance with the plan and the schedule. Tuleutaeva S.T. gave problem lectures on the current issues of pediatric dentistry, which aroused a great interest among students and teachers of the dental profile departments. Kemelova G.S. held classes on the problems of introducing evidence-based medicine into clinical practice, information sources and anatomy of clinical issue, which also aroused great interest among students and teachers of clinical departments. All classes were intense and interesting with the use of active forms of learning. Teachers also demonstrated active teaching methods, such as CBL, TBL, which generated a great interest among the teaching staff and students. These methods of conducting classes are innovative methods of teaching clinical disciplines and promote to the effective learning. Active teaching methods were discussed with the teaching staff of the departments in detail. During the training, they exchanged data on medical education and health care in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

The training of students and the joint work of teachers were fruitful and effective. The Administration of Bukhara State Medical Institute gave a positive feedback on the work done and gave letters of gratitude to both teachers.
