Culture and family values and traditions in positive psychotherapy

26 December 2016

25 days of celebration of Independence Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan took place at the Department of Elementary Psychology and Communication Skills under the banner of promoting the method of positive psychotherapy, authored by the world famous psychotherapist Nossrat Peseschkian.

Within 3 years, the teachers of the Department have been successfully introducing the methodology of positive psychotherapy into the educational process for such disciplines as “Basics of Psychology”, “Basics of Clinical Psychology” and “Communication skills”, in order to achieve the effective intercultural communication in medicine. The main advantage of this method is the possibility of achieving the inter-ethnic harmony by integrating different cultural and family values and traditions. During the classes for the student groups of different specialties and courses the teachers of the Department conducted presentations on the possibilities of positive psychotherapy to unite people of different cultures and nationalities through the knowledge and usage of their history, national eposes, parables, proverbs, tales, and humor. The students actively participated in the discussions, showing interest and talking about willingness to develop in this direction as the doctors with the effective communication skills, and as the citizens of a peaceful multi-ethnic state.
