Karaganda State Medical University, in addition to training highly qualified specialists in the field of medicine, is also famous for its long sporting tradition. Each academic year, the university runs a large number of competitions for both students and teachers.

November 25 Sports Club KSMU has launched I open championship on Kazakh wrestling "KMMU KYRANY - 2016". The author of the idea of a new tournament was the 3rd year student of the specialty "Dentistry" Zeken Yermurat. The tournament was attended by 16 wrestlers in a weight category of 70 to 100 kg.

Tournament’s judging panel consisted of: the Chief Justice – Tusupbekov Askhat Karigulovich judges – Tleubek Bagdaulet and Marlen Zhangabyl. The tournament format was similar to known TV project "Kazakhstan Barys".

The event, organized by the Ministry of Sport SR "Samruk", Sports Club KSMU and the Department on work with youth, was really massive. The tournament was graced by a large number of invited guests. The fight was spectacular and beautiful; each of the fighters showed himself as a real fighter who deserves victory.

In the category "A favorite of the audience" Elubaev Nurtas (3-050 GM) became the winner, and in the category "The most rapid victory" Alpysbayev Elaman (3-006 GM) was declared as a winner.

According to the results of competitions bronze went to Alibaeva Bauyrzhan (3-073 GM), Muhamedgali Rinat (3-015 GM) won silver, and the first owner of the title "KMMU KYRANY" became the 4th year student Nurzhan Uzakbaev (PM).
