Interest in essential-oil-bearing plants is growing. They are increasingly being used as the basis of medicines.

Kazakhstan's flora is distinguished by a wide range of plants that produce essential oils. The Lamiaceae family is one of their most renowned representatives.

The genus Hyssop (Hyssopus L.) is a small genus of this family, uniting 7 species. Representatives of the genus are common throughout Asia. In the flora of Kazakhstan the genus has 4 species: Hyssopus cuspidatus Boriss., Hyssopus ambiguus Iljin, Hyssopus macranthus Boriss., Hyssopus tianschanicus Boriss.

We have made a critical review on plants of the species Hyssop on chemical composition and pharmacological activity. Such data has not been published before.

The technological scheme for obtaining essential oil composition with essential oil of Hyssopus ambiguus (Trautv.) Iljin has been developed.

Development of a pharmaceutical product in spray form based on essential oil composition with essential oil of Hyssopus ambiguus (Trautv.) Iljin in the composition was carried out.
