Mental health is a universal human right

On October 10, 2023, Institute of Public Health and Professional
Health of NCJSC “KMU” hosted a hybrid scientific and practical conference dedicated
to World Mental Health Day. The event observed annually is intended draw
attention to the issues related to the person’s mental state and support people
with such conditions. In 2023, the event is held under the motto: "Mental
health is a universal human right."
The conference was organized by the staff of the
Psychiatry course of the Department of Neurology, Psychiatry and
Rehabilitation, the Institute of Public Health and Professional Health the
Department of Family Medicine of NCJSC "Karaganda Medical
University".
Face-to-face and online participants of the
conference were psychiatrists, general practitioners, students and residents of
the specialties "General Medical Practice" and "Child and Adult
Psychiatry", teachers of medical universities and colleges of different
cities of Kazakhstan, the total attendance was 245 people: The issues of the integration of mental health services in
primary healthcare, modern aspects of clinical psychiatry were discussed at the
Conference. Special attention was paid to regulatory documents, legal aspects
of psychiatric services of the Republic of Kazakhstan, destigmatization,
formation of compliance of persons with mental disorders. The reports on these
topics were made by the staff of the course of psychiatry, resident doctors-psychiatrists
of the second year of study. The information unit with materials on the topic
was prepared and handed over to the conference attendees, the course of
psychiatry of NCJSC “KMU” offers
advanced training on the topic "Psychiatry in the practice of GP".
