From
September 8 to 10, 2023, the regular participants of the local history club of
the Department of History of Kazakhstan and the SPD made a trip to the
historical and geographical sights of the Karkaraly mountain-forest oasis, which is considered to be one of the most beautiful corners of Saryarka.

Almost 3
days into our stay in Karkaraly we took interesting routes, the length of which
reached up to 16 km (on strongly rugged terrain), got acquainted with monuments
to outstanding personalities of the past, such as Abai Kunanbayev, akyn (local
poet) Madi Bapiuly, and also learned about the events of 1921, when already at
the end of the civil war, in Karkaraly died at the hands of "white"
communards - representatives of Soviet power (in the city there is a monument
in their honor).

There was
also a visiting session of our club, where the 4th year student of the
speciality "Dentistry" Mahdi Muhammad Tofik Abouayen showed a
presentation and spoke about the culture of Morocco and, in particular, the
music played at Moroccan weddings, which evoked genuine interest and applause
from the participants of our group. Among us on the trip were also regular
participants of the meetings, the monitor of the club (since 2015) Adel
Abenova, who now works in Astana, resident of our University - surgeon Sanzhar
Zhumanbayev with his wife Diana (also a doctor), Aya Kalybekova rehabilitation
doctor from Pavlodar, many other enthusiasts of outdoor activities and history,
as well as teachers - assistant prof. B.B Rysbekova, assistant prof. O.A.
